We were extremely saddened by the news that Andrew Downes, celebrated British composer, passed away recently.  Andrew (a wheelchair user since 2009) was known for his "creative zeal and joie de vivre" and never stopped composing. His family have raised a huge amount for Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research, particularly in Andrew's 70th Birthday Year, when they organised a series of concerts performing his wonderful work.

Andrew was an internationally renowned composer whose music has been performed in concert halls and cathedrals both home and abroad.  If you would like to read his obituary please click here:  https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/jan/19/andrew-downes-obituary.

We are extremely grateful to Andrew's family for allowing donations to Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research to be made in his memory, and our thoughts remain with them at this sad time.
