Derek Cutler, Research Grants Manager 

Derek is responsible for setting up and overseeing our new research grants programme. Previously he worked at Imperial College London and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), where he project managed international research and policy advice projects related to value for money in healthcare spending. He holds an MSc in International Development from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Ali Gibson, Community Liaison Manager

Ali sustained a spinal cord injury in 1996. She went on to study at the University of Nottingham and graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology. Ali values peer support and maximising the outcomes of rehabilitation following spinal cord injury and other long-term neurological conditions. She works closely with key stakeholders in the community to raise awareness of living with SCI and to discuss current SMSR research. 

 

Charlotte Minoprio, Fundraising Manager

Charlotte began her fundraising career at Macmillan Cancer Support, and  has since worked for a range of different causes. She enjoys working closely with supporters to ensure that every penny raised is maximised and appreciated.

 

Patricia Tweed, Communications Manager 

Patricia is passionate about healthcare and patient advocacy and has led a number of successful campaigns for both corporate and not-for-profit healthcare organisations in both the UK and across Asia Pacific.

 

 

Emily Whicher, Research Therapist 

Emily completed her Physiotherapy degree at Oxford Brookes University in 2008, during which she spent time on clinical placement at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) and other Rehabilitation centres. Emily returned to the NSIC full-time in 2014 and manages a busy caseload working with both adults and children.
