Fort William to Cape Wrath - a 230 mile endurance challenge Donate They have done it!! Hiking over 230 miles from Fort William to Cape Wrath, Craig and Adrian completed their journey on Day 19, Sunday 31st May. To read their story so far, including breathtaking images and videos, CLICK HERE! In January, a member of Adrian’s family suffered a spinal cord injury - a condition which can happen to anyone, at anytime. It’s a reminder of those individuals who, unfortunately, have suffered such an injury, whether through work, a sporting activity or simply happening without warning. Adrian comments: “Craig Mackay is a great Kiwi pal of mine - we've known each other nearly 40 years, ever since our days playing for Woodbridge Rugby Club, both in the backrow; Craig played No. 8, Adrian No. 6. Last year we set ourselves a challenge of epic proportions: leaving on May 4th, we will hike from Fort William to Cape Wrath, a journey through some of Scotland’s finest wilderness, in around 3 weeks, carrying tents and provisions with the occasional use of a mountain bothy. Cape Wrath is the most northerly part of NW Scotland, and features on the inshore shipping news broadcast at 05.35 hours…‘Ardnamurchan Point to Cape Wrath...’. After 12 days we briefly rendezvous with Rebecca, (Adrian’s wife), at Ullapool for a resupply, thereafter we’re again on our own, heading north for a further 8 days. The route is described as one of the toughest in the UK, passing through wild, spectacular landscape, in places with no definitive trail, it is exceptionally remote, where the rugged terrain features bogs, steep mountain passes and challenging river crossings, such as Loch Hourn, Barisdale Bay, and the Falls of Glomach. We’re aiming to share a regular update via a satellite phone as the journey north unveils. We are raising money for Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research, a small but mighty charity, with national reach, who fund projects to improve the quality of life for the 105,000 people living with spinal cord injury in the UK. We would be most grateful for any donation you can give, however big, or small. Your support will help spur us on to complete our challenge and help support this vital research. Please help us to share this message. Thank you, your support will be of enormous benefit in the research undertaken by Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research."
