Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research (SMSR) is delighted to be working alongside Buckinghamshire Business First as a Charity Partner.

We recently were invited to take part in the Buckinghamshire Business Leaders’ Dinner, at Waddesdon Manor, where Ambassador Luke Delahunty, delivered an insightful after-dinner speech about inclusivity and accessibility, drawing on his own experiences as a wheelchair user since a motorbike accident in 1996 left him paralysed from the chest down.

Following his injury, he spent four months receiving treatment at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and later worked at the National Spinal Injuries Centre based at the hospital. It was during this time he was first introduced to SMSR, and subsequently became involved in supporting our work in fundraising to raise money to support UK-wide spinal cord injury research and associated health complications.

We next look forward to taking part in the annual Buckinghamshire Business Awards at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre in September. Find out more about the awards, and book tickets here.

The event will raise funds towards spinal cord injury research through a raffle.
