Our research focuses on the everyday challenges faced by people living with spinal cord injury.  The Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research Applied Neurolab provides researchers with access to the latest technology and helps them to drive innovation.

Situated in the heart of the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC), the SMSR Applied Neurolab funded by charitable donations was opened in 2016.  The lab has been designed to act as a hub at the NSIC to perform clinical projects with clinicians from different departments and also provide training in the latest clinical research techniques.  It also facilitates our involvement in multi-centre clinical research initiatives and specialised networks, including pioneering clinical trials.

The state-of-the-art equipment needed to run the projects in the Applied Neurolab has been funded through generous donations from charitable trusts and private companies.

SMSR welcomes visits from outside clinicians and is always open to collaborating with other interested parties to help improve the quality of life for people living with spinal cord injury.
