It was a special evening for us on Saturday 8 February when Ali Gibson, one of our Ambassadors was invited to speak at the kick-off concert for the British composer Andrew Downes' 70th birthday year. Held at the prestigious Elgar Concert Hall, University of Birmingham - the concert brought together amazing performers from the Central England Ensemble, conducted by Anthony Bradbury.

The audience were treated to an evening of classical delights including Andrew Downes' Celtic Rhapsody with soloist Paula Downes and Rachmaninov Symphony no 2.

The evening raised an amazing £1,343.22 that will be used to support our research grants programme.

More concerts are planned throughout the year and the next one will be held on Saturday 15 February at St Paul's, Cambridge.

You can read Andrew's story and see dates of other planned concerts by visiting Andrew's website here.
