For the past three years Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research has had the privilege of being a charity partner for the European Neuroconvention that brings together brain and spine specialists from across Europe.

This year - our fourth attendance -  we are delighted to have two of our speakers presenting the latest news on our Research Grants Programme and sharing first hand experience of living with spinal cord injury.

Derek Cutler, Research Grants Manager will provide an overview of how our research grants programme is helping to tackle key areas, each of which affects the quality of life of people living with spinal cord injury.  We hope that this research leads to new treatments and therapies, deepening our understanding and dissemination of best practice in these areas:

  • Assistive Technology Primarily for Upper Limb Function
  • Neuropathic Pain
  • Pressure Sores
  • Urinary Tract Infection

Ralph Charlwood, one of SMSR's Ambassadors will discuss the unseen complications of living with a spinal cord injury, providing personal insights. ralph charlwood ambassador
